Who is Livestock Water Recycling?
Committed to cleaning the world’s water, LWR’s parent company has been treating wastewater since 1989. In 2011 we turned our focus to the ag sector and set out on a new course of innovation. With a history of over 2000 groundwater remediation projects, we are uniquely qualified to manufacture and field commission water treatment equipment globally. No other team in the industry has the same water experience, and none have collected and analyzed the vast amount of lab and sensor data to provide value added, on farm solutions for farms looking to grow more with less.
LWR's on-farm fertilizer PLANT enables more sustainable and transparent food production to prevent water and air pollution. Our vision is to deliver a tool for efficient and sustainable use of natural resources, creating regenerative food systems around the world. Innovating to create better access for farms into the circular economy, we have digitized the manure footprint for the producer. This results in precision agriculture, reduced greenhouse gas emissions, regenerated soils, safer communities, and clean reusable water!
How does LWR's on-farm fertilizer PLANT work?
Our patented technology uses mechanical and chemical treatment to remove nutrient contaminants from the discharge waters of livestock operations and food processing facilities. Focused on the reduction of solids, phosphorous, potassium, ammonia, and nitrogen, as the waste flows through the technological process, solids are sequentially removed from the influent stream. A control and information package operated by IOS or Android device, or panel touch screen offers real time control and monitoring of liquids, water, and chemistry. Decades of work in water treatment and thousands of data points has resulted in a solution for the agriculture sector that can also solve challenges across the water treatment industry.
What makes LWR's on-farm fertilizer PLANT different?
LWR's on-farm fertilizer PLANT isolates and concentrates manure nutrients with the power to recycle clean water back from manure and waste liquids. PLANT is the most affordable solution on the market to eliminate manure lagoon storage while reducing greenhouse gas emissions, nutrient run off, and groundwater withdrawals. Hog, dairy, and beef operations, as well as food processing and renewable natural gas facilities, are increasing profitability through sustainable resource efficiency while protecting the health of our planet.
PLANT increases farm revenues through increased crop yields of 30-50%, increased herd sizes, improved animal health, and a safer, healthier work environment for employees. Manure odors are eliminated, groundwater withdrawals are reduced, freshwater is protected from nutrient runoff, and greenhouse gas emissions are reduced by up to 82%! Sustainable food production is critical to achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals and LWR’s PLANT technology directly impacts 10 of these goals.
The system now includes an automation and data analytics package that is the only product on the market to digitize the nutrient footprint of manure through on-system sensors. This facilitates easy access to digital marketplaces for fertilizer and RNG as well as potential for nutrient trading, greenhouse gas and carbon credits and regulatory reporting.
LWR's technology platform has been awarded patents around the world, reinforcing the innovative approach to creating worth from waste.
Does LWR's on-farm fertilizer PLANT use dissolved air flotation?
No.
LWR's on-farm fertilizer PLANT does not use dissolved air flotation in the treatment process.
Does LWR's on-farm fertilizer PLANT use alum?
No.
LWR's on-farm fertilzer PLANT does not use alum. Proprietary nutrient additive polymers are 100% biodegradable, and condition the soil to optimize crop development, eliminate soil erosion and surface runoff, and effectively outperform mechanical dewatering.Does the system get regular updates?
LWR's innovation team never stops innovating! We have come a long way since our early pilot projects and have systems on farms across the US that have been in regular operation since 2015.

We are so excited to have recently launched version 3.0: PLANT!
Focused on the datafication of agriculture, PLANT is the most automated and intensely data driven version of our technology. Our data accumulation sensors have amassed thousands of data points resulting in ManuRewardsTM: a data analytics platform that is leading the market. This addition to our existing platform has increased our value proposition for producers. Our system programming is updated regularly from our Innovation Center over your local internet connection.

What are the benefits of installing LWR's on-farm fertilizer PLANT?
LWR offers livestock producers the opportunity to alleviate manure management costs and environmental impacts. LWR's process concentrates fertilizer nutrients and recycles clean water from manure; all parts of the manure are reused and the value is retained. This cost-effective solution helps farms deal with increasing government regulations and water shortages, while saving money on manure handling costs.
Manure is natures perfect fertilizer, but the precision application of manure is tricky because manure is too dilute to be precise. Producers are unable to export nutrients economically, resulting in operating and production inefficiencies. To be economically viable, farms are also met with the challenge of diversifying their businesses. LWR’s PLANT system modernizes manure management practices and revolutionizes food production waste. It allows farmers to become ‘entremanures’, diversifying their businesses to fully capitalize on both the nutrient value of their waste stream, and the renewable natural gas potential when strategically aligned with anaerobic digestion.
From soil regeneration to carbon capture, resource optimization and water recycling, through proper management systems, livestock have the potential to positively impact ― even reverse ― the effects of climate change. The PLANT system builds long-term resilience for farmers, generating new economic opportunities for the farm, which benefits the environment, and protects communities from the potentially severe consequences of food production waste. All this while helping farmers produce the most environmentally friendly and sustainable milk and meat in the world.
LWR's technology platform has been awarded patents around the world, reinforcing the innovative approach to creating worth from waste.

Where has PLANT been installed?
LWR's on farm fertilizer PLANT has been installed on dairy, hog, and food processing operations across North America. The first commercialized system was installed on a dairy farm in upstate New York and now there are PLANTs operating across 9 American states and the Middle East with projects pending across Europe. Many of our projects work in collaboration with anaerobic digesters and gasification units.

How is the concentrated liquid nutrient stored?
The concentrated liquid nutrient, rich in ammonia and potash, can be stored in either a tank or in an existing lagoon. After the manure has been processed, the volume is significantly reduced. This allows for easy storage of the concentrated liquid nutrient fertilizer. This also reduces the volume that needs to be transported and handled. Liquids are solid free and can be applied precisely through any irrigation system including drip and center pivot.
Can you really drink the recycled water?
Up to 70% of the waste stream can be transformed into clean, potable water. Our technology safely removes the disease-causing pathogens found in livestock manure. These pathogens include Salmonella, E-Coli, Cryptosporidium and fecal coliform. The water discharged from LWR's on-farm fertilizer PLANT meets Canadian drinking water standards and is suitable to use back in the barns or for irrigation.
What is the life expectancy of the LWR System?
PLANT has an indefinite lifespan. With regular maintenance and care the system should never require replacement. An amortization period of fifteen years can be used for the system and the ROI on a system purchase is 24-36 Months!
How big is LWR's on-farm fertilizer PLANT?
PLANT is available in five different sizes depending on treatment volume. The building required to house the equipment ranges in size accordingly from 1,100 to 4,000 square feet.
Does the LWR System require someone for ongoing operation?
The system is fully automated and requires approximately two hours per day of scheduled maintenance, cleaning and operations. This also includes the handling and storage of the dry solids produced from the system. The system has been specifically designed to be low maintenance and easy to operate on site, or remotely from your mobile phone or tablet.
How are the concentrated solids stored and applied?
PLANT creates a concentrated solid fertilizer that contains essential micronutrients, organics, organic nitrogen, and phosphorous that can be stored on farm or easily exported to areas of fertilizer demand. Solids are between 20% and 25% dry weight.
